The sargassum season in Quintana Roo is expected to be intense in 2025, with significant arrivals starting as early as January or February, peaking in April or May.

Although it’s challenging to predict precisely which beaches will be less affected, historically, some have shown lower sargassum levels.

Here are some beaches in Quintana Roo that typically experience less sargassum:

1. Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres

Known for its crystal-clear waters and white sands, Playa Norte has maintained low sargassum levels in previous seasons.

2. Playa Delfines, Cancun

Located in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, this public beach is known for its scenic beauty and has registered lower sargassum accumulation compared to other beaches in the region.

3. Isla Contoy

This protected island, accessible only through authorized tours, often remains free of sargassum due to its location and natural conservation efforts.

4. Holbox Island (Holbox Ferry Terminal)

The ferry terminal area to Holbox Island has shown lower sargassum concentrations, offering cleaner waters for visitors.
